About EV-SION
What is EV-SION?
EV-SION makes offline AI glasses that describe the world in real time for people who are blind or have low vision. No internet, no cloud, just independence.
How is EV-SION related to Lightaceutics?

Who are the glasses for?
People who are blind or have low vision and want more independence in daily life. They’re also used by rehabilitation centres, schools and organisations that support visually impaired people.
How the glasses work
What can EV-SION glasses do?
They recognise objects, read printed text, notice movement, describe scenes and warn you about obstacles. Everything is spoken to you through audio in real time.
How does it work without the internet?
The computer vision model runs on a small processor inside the glasses. This is called edge AI. The camera captures what’s in front of you, the model interprets it on the device, and the glasses tell you what it sees.
Can I ask the glasses questions?
Yes. You can ask things like “What’s in front of me?” or “Read this label”, and get a spoken answer straight away. [Confirm supported voice commands.]
What kind of text can it read?
Printed text such as signs, labels, menus, letters and medicine packaging. [Confirm: handwriting, screens, and which languages are supported.]
How accurate is it?
EV-SION performs best in good lighting with text and objects in clear view. Like any AI, it can make mistakes, so use it alongside your own judgement and mobility skills. [Add tested accuracy figures if available.]
Does it replace a white cane or guide dog?
No. EV-SION adds information about your surroundings. It is designed to work alongside your cane, guide dog and orientation and mobility training, not to replace them.
Is it safe to use near traffic?
EV-SION can warn you about obstacles and describe moving objects, but it should not be your only safety check when crossing roads. Always use your usual road safety methods.
Does it work in the dark?

Privacy and safety
Do the glasses record video or photos?
No. Each frame is analysed in the glasses’ memory and then discarded. EV-SION does not store photos or video of you or the people around you. [Confirm with engineering.]
Is anything sent to the cloud?
No. All processing happens on the glasses. Nothing is uploaded, and no EV-SION employee can see what your glasses see.
Do the glasses recognise faces?
No. EV-SION can tell you a person is nearby, for example “person ahead on your left”, but it does not identify who they are or look anyone up.
What data does the app collect?
Your usage statistics, such as hours of use and text read, stay on your own device. We only receive anonymous diagnostics if you choose to share them. Read our [privacy policy].
Will I be asked to remove my glasses in places that ban smart glasses?
Some venues restrict camera glasses because of recording concerns. EV-SION doesn’t record, upload or identify people, and we can provide a [venue information card] explaining this. Venue rules still apply, so check with staff if you’re unsure.
How do you comply with privacy laws?
EV-SION is designed to comply with POPIA in South Africa [and GDPR in Europe]. Because we don’t collect images or biometric data, most privacy risks are removed at the design stage.

Setup and the app
How do I set up my glasses?
Charge the glasses, download the EV-SION app for iOS or Android, and follow the spoken setup guide. Setup takes about [X] minutes.
Is the app accessible?
Yes. The app works fully with VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android.
Do I need my phone for the glasses to work?
No. Once set up, the glasses work on their own, fully offline. The app is used for settings, updates and optional features.
How long does the battery last?

How do updates work?
New features and recognition improvements arrive through the app. Updates download to your phone and install on the glasses; no personal data is collected in the process.
